Akari is a 14 year old school girl living in Hokkaido. One day, a puppy wanders into her yard looking lost and frightened. Akari named her Socks due to the white paw markings. Akari's mom consents to her keeping the dog but only after she agrees to keep 10 promises to Socks. This begins their journey of growing up together. Through her life, Socks is always there to provide unquestioning love and support.
However, as Akari grows up, her feelings and interest moves away from Socks. Year by year, their distance grows.. Akari's dad called her and told her that Sock's condition is getting worser and she can no longer stand on her feet anymore. When she rushed home and saw Socks lying on the floor without any motion and Akari's dad took out the scrapbook her mom made for her in relation to the 10 promises. As she flipped through each page with the promises on, she noticed she didnt kept majority of her promises. Socks dies as soon as she read the 10th promise.

This story is so meaningful. It hits me that this doesn't only applies to your fellow pets.. I feel that it also applies to every human being. Stay true and always mean what you say. Remember, every living heart has feelings too, never carry words which hurt them.. We wont live forever so make each moment counts..If i dont obey you, i have my own reasons..
